When Tabitha Soren asked Bill Clinton if he preferred boxers or briefs, the topic of men’s underwear was pulled from the bottom of the hamper to the front page of the newspaper. It may not be a coincidence that since then, men’s underwear has experienced a renaissance.
Men – gay, straight and metrosexual – now have a wide array of choices when it comes to their skivvies – from baggy boxers to tiny thongs. The men’s furnishing sections of departments stores are now rivaling the women’s intimate apparel section. Knowing that even our former president could talk about his underwear out in the open (little did we know then just how much we’d find out about what was beneath his trousers), the men of America took to the malls and never looked back.
