A Chat With Underwear Designer Tim Wildman

Tim Wildman underwear designer

Like many of us, underwear designer and entrepreneur Tim Wildman spent lots of time in his youth looking at department store catalogs for inspiration. Years later, Wildman innovated a unique approach to male enhancement: no pills needed.

This week Tim Wildman was kind enough to answer a few questions just for boxers-or-briefs.com:

Johnny Underscore: What first got you interested in designing mens underwear?

Tim Wildman: I was a very thin kid and young man.  I grew up wanting to be bigger and look fuller like the guys in the JC Pennies Underwear Catalog.  I have always been drawn towards the aesthetics of  guys looking hot in their underwear or a tight pair of jeans (God I loved the 80’s).  So I always had the interest.  But it wasn’t until recently that I put some action into my interests.  I actually started the company for my mother to have something to do in her semi-retired years.

Johnny Underscore: How has mens underwear style changed over the years?

Tim Wildman: Thank God men have the choice to be sexy in underwear.  High-cut tighty-whities did not leave much room for sex appeal.  A great pair of underwear can now also be flattering, flirty,  and express a man’s personality better.  I thank Underoos for the shift in men’s underwear!

Johnny Underscore: What inspired your clever ‘male enhancement’ designs?

Tim Wildman: When we first started Wildmant.com, we offered GoSoftwear products and did a lot of amateur photo shoots at home.  Because we were not too good with lighting we were coming out with a lot of flat pictures and the product did not look very appealing.  So,  in an attempt to make the underwear look fuller on the model,  we tried stuffing, pinning, cock-rings and every other  trick we could think of.  I noticed that if the balls were higher, the package looked fuller.  But the look would disappear every time the model moved; so I took some elastic and created a band that would go under the balls and be supported by an elastic waist band.  The pictures came out great and the Ball Lifter was born.

Johnny Underscore: What are some of your favorite styles of underwear?

Tim Wildman: I have always loved briefs from Ginch Gonch and the simplicity of Joe Boxer.  Boxers…not for me.

Johnny Underscore: If you could pick a celebrity spokesmodel for Wildman T underwear, who would it be?

Tim Wildman: Kathy Griffin! Do you know if she is available?

Johnny Underscore: What kind of underwear are you wearing today?

Tim Wildman: The WildmanT Regular Cut Brief
