We know that Jockey innovated men’s briefs. In fact some people still refer to briefs as “Jockey shorts.” But Jockey briefs weren’t always made by a company called Jockey.
Coopers Inc. debuted the Jockey brief in 1935 but over the decades people came to know the name Jockey much better than the name of the company that made them. The Jockey Brief proved to be so popular and ubiquitously known for men’s underwear that, in 1971, the company Coopers, Inc. adopted the Jockey brand name as its own.
